The Mayor chooses to support the Museum

The Museum is proud to be among the charities to be supported by the Mayor of Blandford for the mayoral year 2023-24, together with the Blandford Food Bank and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. This means that we will receive a share of the proceeds of various fundraising events organised by the Mayor, Hugo Mieville, who writes:
“I am happy to support the Museum because it is a high-class local museum, free at the point of entry, which also acts as an umbrella organisation for other worthy local environmental and civic groups.
I support the excellent work of the Blandford Food Bank, in times of the genuine need of thousands of people, whilst being convinced that no modern industrial society should actually need a food bank for its more vulnerable citizens.
I support the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, because none of us knows when the moment might come when we will need it – as my son did seven years ago when left critically ill by the side of the A303. The Wiltshire Air Ambulance saved his life – people may not know that these organisations receive no public funding.”
You can help the Museum by supporting the Mayor’s charity events, which are listed below. The museum has been asked to be involved with running these events and we can help to make them really successful if we can provide several volunteers for each one. If you would like to contribute, for example, by preparing or serving refreshments on any of the dates in the list, please let us know.
