Great Big Green Week talk: Green Economies
Friday 16th June, 7 – 10 pm
Blandford Parish Centre, The Tabernacle, DT11 7DW

As part of The Great Big Green Week, Rebecca Saville will be speaking about Economic Growth and Climate Change.
What is economic growth?
Why do we want it?
In the UK, in the 21st century, are the costs of economic growth greater than the benefits?
Who gains and who loses when a government adopts pro-growth policies ?
Rebecca’s first degree is in geography. A few years ago she returned to university to learn economics and now she is reading for a PhD in economics at SOAS, University of London. Her interest is in how concepts from mainstream economics make effective action to limit the climate and ecological emergency less likely. She is passionate about encouraging people to think about the economic concepts that we take for granted.
