Archaeology Group Lecture: Domestic life in the First Millennium BC

Our lecture series continues in January with “Ways of Living in the Upper Thames Valley: The developing nature of domestic life in the First Millennium BC”. In this talk, Olivia Britter (Southampton University) investigates social change through material culture and architecture in household contexts throughout the First Millenium BC  in Britain, specifically in the Upper Thames Valley. Using the archaeological evidence for how households change over time can begin to highlight the development of social constructs, and how they alter ways of living.

Olivia also explores how accurate are some some of the pervasive impressions of life in the Bronze and Iron Ages, and how the accuracy of these impressions changes and develops over time.
