Archaeology Group Lecture: Excavations at Coombe Bissett

Thursday 10 October, 7:30 pm

Woodhouse Gardens Pavilion, Blandford Forum, DT11 7DN

An archaeological digThis presentation will focus on findings from recent excavations on Coombe Bissett Down. In 2022, a major excavation discovered and IronAge/Roman grain processing site high on Cranborne Chase, and in 2024 a farmyard from the same era was found nearby, with evidence of activity dating back to the Bronze Age. Alyson Tanner & Alix Smith explore who the people were living and working on Coombe Bissett Down 2,000 years ago, and what the objects they found might say about what their lives were like.

Please note the change of venue for this season’s talks.

Tea and coffee are available to buy before the lecture.
